Retro Sweets Q&A: Senior Game Producer, Ihor Lozynskyi speaks to Casinos Vergelijken
Push Gaming's Senior Game Producer, Ihor Lozynskyi spoke to Casinos Vergelijken about our highly anticipated sequel, Retro Sweets.
Retro Sweets follows in the footsteps of Retro Tapes, what steps have you taken to make this new release stand out from its predecessor?
We were absolutely blown away by the reception that Retro Tapes received, we knew from then on that we wanted to expand on the retro theme, creating new titles that are equally as popular.
Retro Tapes was massively boosted by the inclusion of Wild Tapes and its associated multipliers. Whenever you have a symbol, feature or mechanic that resonates with players in such a way, you absolutely have to emulate it in future releases.
Retro Sweets features a new symbol, the Instant Prize Multiplier, which adds a lot more variety to the game as a whole and has a huge impact on the bonus game.
It’s our understanding that the Sweet Collector feature has also been added, which is a feature that’s inspired by the Magnet from Retro Tapes. How does this work?
Yes, that’s true! We wanted to take the Magnet feature that was popular in Retro Tapes and tweak it so that it offers even more than before.
The Sweet Collector feature can now pull Wild symbols along with others. This also comes into play during the bonus game now, where it can attract any non-clustering instant prize symbols that are in view.
One major selling point for players in relevant jurisdictions is the inclusion of your new Push Bet feature, just how important is this to players?
Our newly released Push Bet feature is a hugely important inclusion to this game. It’s not a direct route into the bonus feature like a classic bonus buy feature, instead it guarantees that 1 or 2 Wild Candy Symbols land on each base spin.
This comes at the cost of 2x or 4x the player’s stake, which is significantly more affordable than directly buying a bonus. We implemented this as we wanted a way to bring players closer to the action without having them break the bank to make it happen.
That being said, the importance of bonus buy features cannot be understated. Bonus buys are an essential part of most games as there’s a subsection of players that want to dive straight into the action, and can you blame them? There’s nothing more exciting than a bonus feature!
It’s also a key feature for streamers too. You want them to invest time and money into your latest release then you need to offer them a quick route into a bonus. Entertainment is the aim of the game for streamers and they must be able to showcase the thrill of bonus features.
This game has all the hallmarks of a classic Push Gaming release in terms of design and gameplay, how satisfying is it that you’ve managed to develop such a recognisable portfolio of games?
It’s hugely satisfying to know that we’ve made our mark on the industry by developing such strong and memorable titles. When I look at Retro Sweets, I’m immediately transported back to all of the good times I’ve had playing Retro Tapes and I think it’ll be the same for players.
With its bright and vibrant design, sweet theme and intense cluster pays action, there’s a strong nod to Jammin’ Jars here too and that will also help boost this game’s popularity with fans of that classic series.
What’s coming up next from Push Gaming?
We have two fantastic titles coming up in the next few months that we are really excited to showcase. First up we have Cats of Olympuss due on June 20th that offers a truly unique mash-up between our feline friends and ancient Greek mythology. This is followed by The Grand Show on July 17th, a circus-themed slot that offers a modern-twist to classic gameplay.
We have great faith that both titles are going to be up there amongst our very best this year, so keep an eye out for more information on those in the coming weeks and months.
