Q&A: Head of Studio, Amit Samji speaks to OLBG

Push Gaming's Head of Studio, Amit Samji, sat down with OLBG’s Chris Taylor to review how 2024 has gone so far at Push and discuss what exciting new projects are in the pipeline for the remainder of the year.

How has 2024 gone for Push Gaming?
2024 has been a truly fantastic year for Push Gaming so far, we’ve delivered some top quality games such as Wild Swarm 2, Razor Returns and Retro Sweets. All of these games have quickly established themselves as fan-favourites, which comes as no surprise considering their predecessors were insanely popular.

Creating content is always a pleasure, but this year has been a lot of fun for all of us. There’s still plenty more to come from the team, so watch this space.

What’s Push Gaming’s ideation process for new slots entail?
It’s quite simple! This year our focus has been on delivering new iterations of our most beloved content, as we know that’s what works best! We’re adding exciting new features and mechanics to help take them to the next level.

What are Push Gaming’s most popular slot games in the UK?
While we are seeing a huge surge in demand for our new content in all major markets, it’s actually our older games that are performing exceptionally well in the UK. These titles include Big Bamboo, Razor Shark and Wild Swarm. Newer games that are proving popular include Big Bite, Fish ‘n’ Nudge and Retro Tapes, which comes as no surprise!

Are there any plans to expand the ‘Fat’ series?
We are currently brainstorming ideas on how we can further improve a series that we already consider perfect! It’ll be no mean feat, but we know it can be done! If a new game makes its way onto our roadmap you can be sure that it’ll be a game that’s loved by all.

Why should slot players play Push Gaming slots rather than others?
We are developing games in such a way that they not only offer even more action during base gameplay, but also have a strong bonus frequency, meaning that players are provided with action-packed gameplay from start-to-finish. We have a very firm understanding of player preferences and what our audience wants from Push Gaming content, it’s imperative that we stay true to this approach and deliver on each and every release.

With a firm focus on sequels in the industry, does Push Gaming have plans to release more? Such as a third Razor game?
We really do put a lot of thought into whether we want to release a sequel. We only want to develop them when we know we’re staying true to the original title, and that it’s good enough that they’ll still actually want to immerse themselves in the prequel. The worst thing we could do is ruin a popular game by following it up with a lacklustre release.

What challenges does Push Gaming face with regards to regulation in the UK?
Regulation always throws out issues, no matter the jurisdiction. For us though, we try not to see changing regulation as a challenge, but rather an advantage. We’ll work through any roadblocks that come our way and continue to give players an unforgettable gaming experience.

What slot games can we expect for the rest of 2024?
The one to look out for is most certainly Razor Ways! This incredibly ambitious follow-up to hit releases Razor Returns and Razor Shark sees the return of Push Gaming’s iconic shark with a reimaged aesthetic, expanding reels and the introduction of 46,656 ways to win.

The introduction of the Razor Reveal feature is a fantastic addition, this feature triggers when Mystery Symbols land on three consecutive reels. During the feature players can win instant prizes, multipliers, collectors, converters and scatter symbols. If that wasn’t enough,a row unlocker is available for players that can utilise the Bonus Buy. What’s not to love?

Which is your personal Push Gaming slot game and why?
My personal favourite has to be Big Bite. The winning potential is there to see right away! What’s more, the attractive jackpots and expanded bonus feature only adds even bigger potential to the game. Let’s be honest, we all love a game that pays well!
